A great deal of my professional life has been in the world of producing results within the business and technology market place.  As a result I tend to ask why we are doing something and how shall we know if we have achieved our goal.  I will do so here in this short section.

However, I caution the reader on two points.  First, these sample problems were written after I developed the theory.  I did indeed have some fuzzy notion of what I want to achieve, but I did not make any attempt to document it.  Second, many significant innovations are NOT the result of setting goals and working to achieve them.  Much happens that is accidental, the result of play, or just curiosity.

Although, I do not expect that the theory presented here will allow us to fully solve the following list of sample problems, I do demand that the theory be of use in understanding each and assisting with decisions that must be made as we address each of these and similar problems.

  1. General Goal Achievement Sensitivity
  2. Forecast Outcome of a Specific Project
  3. Analysis of the State-of-Fear Society
  4. Optimal Organization Structures
  5. Why Do Some Organizations Grow and Some Fail?
  6. Identifying the Level of Effort Required to Make a Change
  7. Accounting for the Evolutionary Nature of Society.

Let’s discuss each of these in just a little more detail.
